Help us defend and advocate for end-of-life rights

Are you passionate about protecting end-of-life rights? Join our 280+ generous volunteers who bring Dying With Dignity Canada’s advocacy, education, and programs to the local level.
DWDC was founded in 1980 by volunteers. To this day, we remain powered by hardworking people who donate their time to help people across Canada avoid unwanted suffering.
“I love being part of an organization that is compassion-driven and dedicated to advocacy. Knowing that my contributions—no matter how small—help people make informed decisions and find peace in difficult moments is incredibly fulfilling.”
– Pratham Malik, volunteer

Dying With Dignity Canada has many different volunteer roles, all of which have a major impact on the end-of-life movement in Canada. These roles vary depending on location, time of year, and other factors – with many of them belonging to our local, volunteer-led Chapters.
We rely on volunteers to engage with their communities, defend patient rights, and ensure that people across Canada are informed about their legal end-of-life options. Volunteers are vital to nearly every aspect of our organization, and we’re so grateful that you would consider getting involved.
“I want to help ensure others have the same opportunity and option to make decisions on how they want to live their life, including the way they die.”
– Suzette Chen, volunteer

“It was one of the most wonderful experiences. Initially, people were surprised that I was calling just to say thank you, but once we got past that I had some real and heartfelt conversations.”
“Volunteering with DWDC felt like a natural extension of my commitment to providing compassionate support to those navigating difficult decisions in their final days.”
“I firmly believe that living in a democratic country, we should be able to exercise our right to get medical assistance to end our life when we feel we are more scared of life than death.”
